Mumbai Meri Jaan....

My association with Bombay started from 27th February 1985. Right from the 01st day of my life. I am born and brought up in this mad city and always felt very secure. I never really thought of visiting the other metros or any other place outside Mumbai as I still cant get enough of this place.

Bombay is very special. This is the only city which has accepted people from everywhere and made their dreams come true.

Our lifeline – The local trains look very funny if they are not crowded.
We feel so disgusting when we miss a train.
8.44 or 9.01 are the timings of the trains and our watches also are adjusted in such way so that they could match the railway clocks.
Here you will find different sets of friends, Childhood friends, school friends, building friends, office friends and ‘train friends’ which are the most important part of our day to day life. We discuss politics, religion, current affairs, Bollywood , Big Boss and many more things in our 1 hour journey.

The traffic on roads take up so much of place that a minimum time to reach any destination would be one hour.

Be it Linking Road or Crawford Market we proudly show of our bargaining skills and when we win the happiness and contentment on our faces is worth seeing.
We love eating the roadside vadapavs, panipuris, pavbhaji that we completely forget about hygiene. And to top it all a cutting chai …

When it comes to God- Mumbai celebrates every festival with a lot of involvement, excitement and enthusiasm. We love bursting loud crackers inspite of the warnings given to us. We play extra loud music during Ganpati.
Though the deadline says 10 but we end our dandiya sessions only by 12 or 1. Basically we love breaking the rules.

We are very keen on making small incidents into ‘breaking news’, be it Jaya Bacchan wanting to speak shudh Hindi or Ganpati Baapa drinking milk and water. News channels are most wanted. We get to see a lot masala on T.V thanks to our journalists.

Now a days pubs are very famous. People share their joys and sorrows here. Celebrations are done on a large scale all thanks to ‘Happy Hours’.
A colleague’s promotion, reunion of college friends, a best friend’s breakup or just nothing at all. Pubs play a very significant role in out lives.

Bollywood- 90% of Mumbai;s population loves our Hindi Picture. They go for all the 01st day 01st shows even if the newspapers show bad reviews.
We love standing for hours outside Salman’s house and patiently wait, just to catch a glimpse of him and on the other hand we get so impatient when our better half doesn’t turn up on time on a date.

We actively participate in sending SMS for KBC or Dus ka Dum with a hope that it’ll click one day and we would be in the hot seat. Even though each SMS costs us Rs.7.

Inspite of so many loopholes and so many problems we still stand out from everyone. Its only because of the spirit of Mumbai that we still take a train to go to work inspite of experiencing the blasts right in front of us.

Whether it’s Tsunami or the Bihar floods we donate money wholeheartedly.
Mumbai has been through a mess with companies going bankrupt, call centers shutting down, market going down, water logging during the rains, load shedding during summers, and many other things.
But it is still fighting. We can never dream of having a perfect metro but make the best of what we have.
After al lYeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan….
